Bitdeer Technologies (NASDAQ:$BTDR) has introduced a powerful new rig for mining Bitcoin (CRYPTO:$BTC).
The company's "Sealminer A4 Ultra Hydro" mining rig delivers a hashrate of one petahash per second (PH/s) per unit, which is a big leap in computational power for the crypto mining industry
Hashrate refers to the speed at which a computer or network of computers completes mathematical calculations when mining cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
Hashrate is measured in hashes per second.
Singapore-based Bitdeer says that its Sealminer A4 Ultra Hydro rig is also energy efficient, exceeding 1 PH/s while maintaining a power efficiency of 10 joules per terahash (J/TH).
Energy efficiency is important to Bitcoin miners as electricity costs typically represent their biggest operational expense.
The new rig's design emphasizes both raw power and energy optimization, making it a competitive option for large-scale Bitcoin mining operations around the world, says Bitdeer.
Bitdeer noted that achieving a 1 PH/s hashrate in 2015 required 1,000 individual Bitcoin mining rigs. Today, a single Sealminer A4 Ultra Hydro rig can accomplish the same task.
Bitdeer hopes to sell its Sealminer A4 Ultra Hydro rig to Bitcoin miners around the world. The cost of the new rig hasn't been made publicly available.
BTDR stock has risen 7% in the last 12 months to trade at $14.02 U.S. per share.
