On a per-share basis, the Newport Beach, California-based company said it had a loss of 42 cents. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 9 cents per share.
The agricultural products company posted revenue of $128.2 million in the period.
American Vanguard shares have declined 25% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $8.19, a decline of 52% in the last 12 months.
