
Tuesday hog futures are trading with $0.47 to $1.42 losses. That has the front month June contract at contract lows. The USDA National Average Base Hog price was up by 59 cents in the AM report to $76.01. The 5/19 CME Lean Hog Index was $79.57, up by 34 cents.
Pork cutout futures are also in the red at midday, giving back $0.60 to $2.20 so far. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout Value for was 14 cents higher on Tuesday morning to $84.91. Mondy’s FI hog slaughter was estimated at 473k head. That is up from 464,000 last week and from 462,000 during the same week last year.
