Belo Sun Mining Corp was originally formed in the Province of Ontario by articles of amalgamation dated July 1, 1996 pursuant to the Business Corporations Act (Ontario) under the name Verena Minerals Corporation. On June 30, 2010, the Corporation filed articles of amendment to change its name to Belo Sun Mining Corp. The Company, through its subsidiaries, engages in the exploration of gold properties located in Brazil. The Company's principal property includes 100% owned Volta Grande project located in the northern region of Para state, Brazil. Its other properties include the Patrocinio, which is located in Para state, Brazil; and Rainbow projects located in the state of Goias in Brazil. Patrocinio project area is included in the Tapajos Mineral Province, located in central part of the Amazon Craton, which represents one of the main tectonics units of the South American Platform. The Rainbow Project exploration area covers approximately 30,000 hectares northwest of Minacu in the state of Goias in Brazil.
