Proteo, Inc., is a Nevada Corporation formed on December 18, 1992. The Company has one wholly owned subsidiary, Proteo Biotech. Effective December 31, 2004, the Company's other wholly owned subsidiary; Proteo Marketing, Inc. was merged into the Company. Proteo, Inc. and Proteo Marketing, Inc. began operations in November 22, 2000. The Company is a clinical stage drug development and intends to develop, promote and market pharmaceuticals and other biotech products. The Company's focus is on the development of anti-inflammatory treatments for rare diseases with significant unmet needs. The Company is is engaged in the development of pharmaceuticals based on the body's own tools and weapons to fight inflammatory diseases. Specifically, it are focusing its research on the development of drugs based on the human protein Elafin. The Company focuses on the clinical development of Elafin for treatment of postoperative inflammatory complications in the surgical therapy of esophagus carcinoma. The Company has obtained Orphan drug designations within the European Union for the use of Elafin in treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension as well as for the treatment of esophagus carcinoma. In the latter indication especially the postoperative inflammation, the main reason for postoperative morbidity, will be targeted by Elafin treatment. The Company competes with many other companies involved in the development of pharmaceuticals. The Company is, and would continue to be, subject to governmental regulation under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Environmental Protection Act, the Toxic Substances Control Act, and other similar laws of general application.
