Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company was incorporated under the old Corporation Law of the Philippines on November 28, 1928. The Company is a telecommunications service provider in the Philippines. It is a fixed line service provider in the Philippines accounting for approximately 69% of the total reported fixed line subscribers nationwide as at December 31, 2013. Smart is a cellular service provider in the country, and together with the other PLDT Group cellular service provider, DMPI, account for approximately 66% of total reported cellular subscribers nationwide as at December 31, 2013. Through its business segments - wireless, fixed line, and other - it offers diversified range of telecommunications services across the Philippines' extensive fiber optic backbone and wireless, fixed line and satellite networks. Its wireless segment includes wireless telecommunications services provided by Smart and DMPI, which owns the Sun Cellular business and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Digitel, its cellular service providers; Smart Broadband, Inc. and Primeworld Digital Systems, Inc., its wireless broadband service providers; Chikka Group, its wireless content operators; and ACeS Philippines, its satellite operator. The Fixed Line segment includes services primarily provided by PLDT. It also provide fixed line services through PLDT Clark Telecom, Inc.'s subsidiaries, namely, ClarkTel, SubicTel, Philcom Group, Maratel, Smart Broadband, Inc., Primeworld Digital Systems, Inc., Bonifacio Communications Corporation, PLDT Global and Digitel, all of which together account for approximately 8% of its consolidated fixed line subscribers; and information and communications infrastructure and services for internet applications, internet protocol, or IP-based solutions and multimedia content delivery provided by ePLDT, IP Converge Data Services, Inc., ABM Global Solutions, Inc., and its subsidiaries, or AGS Group, and Curo Teknika, Inc.; and bills printing and other VAS-related services provided by ePDS, Inc., or ePDS; and Others segment includes PLDT Global Investments Holdings, Inc., PLDT Global Investments Corporation and PLDT Communications and Energy Ventures, Inc., its investment companies.
