Krones AG was founded in 1951. The Company offers machinery and complete systems for filling and packaging and for beverage production. The Company's customers are breweries, beverage producers, and companies from the food, chemical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. The Company reports on its three segments: "machines and lines for product filling and decoration", "machines and lines for beverage production/process technology", and "machines and lines for the low output range. The Product filling and decoration segment offers machines and complete lines for filling, packaging, labelling, and conveying products. Machines for producing PET containers and converting used plastic bottles into food-grade recycled material (PET recycling systems) are also part of this segment. The Beverage production/process technology segment includes brewhouse and cellar systems (i.e. products for breweries). Equipment used for treating sensitive beverages such as milk and for producing dairy drinks and fruit juices is also part of this segment. Its components business, that is, EVOGUARD brand valves and pumps, is also part of the "beverage production/process technology" segment. The Company's subsidiary KOSME offers a product similar to that of its "machines and lines for product filling and decoration" segment, but for the lower output range. With KOSME, the Company is able to serve smaller and mid-sized companies that do not need high-speed machines but nevertheless are committed to quality.
