Jse Ltd was founded in 1887. The Company operates as a securities exchange in South Africa. The Company's main lines of business are issuer services, trading, clearing and settlement services, technology and other technology related services and market data sales. It has five reportable segments: - Equity division, Equity and Currency derivatives, Commodity derivatives, Interest rate market and Market data. In the equity division, it provides trading in equities, warrants and exchange-traded products such as ETFs and ETNs. In Equity and Currency derivatives segment it provides trading in equity and equity-related futures and options. The Commodity derivatives segment offers trading in agricultural rain products and cash settled rand-denominated derivatives on international benchmark commodities. The Interest rate market segment offers trading in interest rate products in both the cash and derivatives market. Through clearing, the Company provides settlement assurance for trades dealt in equity securities listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange executed on the equity trading system. It also provides clearing of its derivatives products. The Company also sells market data, and regulates primary and secondary markets. The Company is supervised by the Financial Services Board.
