Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd was incorporated and registered in the Republic of South Africa in 1957. The Company is engaged in mining, refining and marketing of platinum group metals (PGMs), as well as nickel, copper and cobalt. The Company along with its subsidiaries is also engaged in purchase of concentrate and/or smelter matte; processing of concentrate and matte by the smelting, refining and sale of resultant PGMs and base metals, and toll refining; and also in purchase of chrome in tailings; and processing and sale of the product. The Company has five operations with a total of 24 underground shafts. It has operations in Impala, Zimplats, Marula, Mimosa and Two Rivers. Its operations are located on the Bushveld Complex in South Africa and the Great Dyke in Zimbabwe that explores PGM-bearing ores. It produces platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium, nickel, copper, and cobalt, as well as gold.
