Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG was founded on March 7, 1885. The Company along with its subsidiaries forms a network between the overseas port and the European hinterland with its container terminals, transport systems, logistics services and logistics properties. The Company along with its subsidiaries offers its clients a range of services along with logistics chain, from the quay wall in the overseas port to its customers in the hinterland. The Company organized its business into four segments: HHLA Container segment; HHLA Intermodal segment; HHLA Logistics segment; and HHLA Real Estate segment. HHLA's container terminals link ships and rail networks. The Company's three terminals : Altenwerder, Burchardkai and Tollerort makes the Port of Hamburg a container hub between Asia and Central/Eastern Europe. With Container Terminal Odessa in Ukraine it also operates handling facilities in and around the Black Sea. HHLA's Intermodal segment offers a transport and terminal network for containers by rail and road. While the rail companies provides connections between ports on the North and Baltic seas and on the Northern Adriatic and its hinterland, the inland terminals provides a range of services for maritime logistics. The Logistics segment offers services from consultancy and specialist handling services to storage and contract logistics. Unikai Lagerei und Spedition is center for vehicle logistics in the Port of Hamburg. The Frucht und Kuhlzentrum facilitates fruit handling, and Ulrich Stein GmbH facilitates fruit import sector. The Real Estate segment offers portfolio of services, from project and property development to modern district management and active urban redevelopment.
