Community Bank of the Bay was founded in 1996. It operates as a community bank. It is dedicated to meeting the financial needs of small/medium businesses, professional service firms and non profits. Community Bank of the Bay is the home of the Bay Area Green Fund(r) and the Oakland 1st Fund(r). These funds assist individuals in making certain that their money is used to promote their values. The Bank's primary mission is to work with businesses and non profits to grow their organizations by providing the financial resources to do so. Community Bank of the Bay was California's first Community Development Financial Institution and later became the first certified green bank in Oakland. The Bank focuses the majority of its efforts and resources towards stimulating the local economy by creating jobs and improving the quality of life in the East Bay.
