Crownbutte Wind Power was established in 1999 with the goal of building, owning and operating a string of utility scale wind parks across the Northern Plains States - the windiest in the nation. Crownbutte developed, built and operated the first wind power generation facility in the Dakotas at Chamberlain, South Dakota. Crownbutte later built the 20 Megawatt (MW) Diamond Willow wind park located near Baker, Montana. Today, Crownbutte has a pipeline of 300 MW of new wind power projects in development across North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana. It has successfully developed and built two wind parks now in operation today and has hundreds of megawatts of new wind parks sited on more than 60,000 acres of land across North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana now under development.
