Nearby cotton prices are off their lows from earlier in the Monday session, but are still working 16 to 39 points in the red. The thinly traded October contract is 131 points weaker, with 152 open contracts as of Friday’s settle.
USDA’s weekly Cotton Market Review showed no sales for spot cotton this week but cited the spot price as $1.04 04/100 per pound. YTD sales total 1.624m bales compared to 1.386m bales during at the same point last season. The 7/22 Cotlook A Index (old crop) was weaker by 150 points to 128.3 cents. USDA’s AWP for cotton is 103.96 cents/lb through Thursday.
