Front month cattle futures ended 7 to 30 cents lower in some of the contracts, while Feb and April closed 50c and 30c in the black. Feeders worked $1.80 to $2.42 in the red. USDA reported limited cash sales in NE from $154. Last week’s bulk price was mostly $150 in the South and $153 in the North. USDA’s OKC feeder cattle auction review showed 10k head were sold mostly from $1-2 lower. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was another 5 cents lower on 11/14 to $175.18.
Wholesale Boxed Beef prices were mixed in the PM report. That came as Choice was 38 cents higher to $258.36, while Select dropped $1.45 to $231.76 cwt. USDA estimated Tuesday’s FI cattle slaughter at 129k head to 257k head for the week. That compares to 252k head last week and 244k head during the same week last year.
