
Following Monday’s losses, midday cattle futures are 10 to 30 cents in the red. Feb contracts are the outlier with a 10 cent gain at midday. Cash trade remains quiet. Feeder cattle are also lower through midday, giving back another 10 to 57 cents. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was $153.90, up 55 cents, on 10/15.
Wholesale Boxed Beef prices were stronger on Tuesday, as Choice was 72 cents stronger and Select was $1.82. USDA saw Monday’s FI cattle slaughter at 120,000 head. That is down 1,000 from last week, but is 1,000 higher yr/yr.
