So far for Tuesday, futures are down 7 to 35 cents in the live cattle market. Feeders are trading 40 to 97 cents lower. USDA noted the bulk of last week’s cash activity was near $155. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was $177.69 on 1/20 after a 66 cent boost.
Wholesale Boxed Beef prices slid lower in the PM report with a 28 cent drop in Choice and a $1.94 weaker Select quote. USDA estimated Monday’s FI cattle slaughter at 124k head. That compares to 125k last week and 118k head during the same Monday last year.
