
Live cattle are trading both directions so far for Tuesday, with a 20 cent gain in Dec to a 12 cent loss in Feb. The other nearby contracts are within 7 cents of UNCH. The FCE auction for Tuesday saw $151-$152 bids for the 1,223 head listed, but no sales were made on $152-$153 asks. USDA reported limited to no cash trade on Monday. Feeder cattle prices on the board are also mixed within 0.35% of UNCH so far. USDA showed prices were mostly steady sold in the weekly OKC auction, with lightweights seeing a $3-$6. The CME Feeder Cattle Index for 11/18 was $174.64, down by 72 cents.
Wholesale Boxed Beef prices were $1.96 stronger in Choice and $1.84 higher for Select this morning. USDA estimated Monday’s federally inspected cattle slaughter at 128k head. That was even with last week but up 6k head from the same Monday last year.
