
Live cattle futures are trading 32 cents to $1.07 in the black so far – led by the Feb contract. The weekly FCE auction saw no sales for the 887 head listed. Bids were $149.50-$150.50, but asks were $151-152. USDA reported limited cash sales in NE from $154. Last week’s bulk price was mostly $150 in the South and $153 in the North. Feeder cattle futures are up 32 to 42 cents on the board so far. Feeders worked $1.80 to $2.42 in the red yesterday. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was another 5 cents lower on 11/14 to $175.18.
USDA quoted Wholesale Boxed Beef prices as $258.03 cwt. for Choice and $232.24 for Select in the AM report. That was a 33 cent drop in Choice and a 48 cent boost in Select. USDA estimated Tuesday’s FI cattle slaughter at 129k head to 257k head for the week. That compares to 252k head last week and 244k head during the same week last year.
