
Front month live cattle futures are trading 7 to 27 cents weaker so far at midday. Feeders are down by 35 to 75 cents in the front months. Cash trade remains quiet through Thursday morning, with some reports of $150-$151 in the South and some limited $151-$152 in the North. The Feeder Cattle Index from CME was 11 cents higher on 10/25 at $174.96.
USDA reported weekly beef bookings were 14,085 MT from the week that ended 10/20. That was down from 16.6k MT last week. Weekly shipments of 17.4k MT took the accumulated total to 771k MT.
Wholesale Boxed Beef prices were stronger in the AM report with a 48 cent boost in Chocie and a $3.02 increase in Select. The week to date cattle slaughter under federal inspection was 384k head through Wednesday. That is up from 381k head last week and from 366k head during the same week last year.
