Regional commercial organizations are used to distribute and sell the product. The business is also supported by global corporate staff functions. These products are sold mainly to wholesalers, and to a lesser extent, directly to distributors, retailers, hospitals, clinics, government agencies and pharmacies. The Company's key products include, Plavix, Avapro, Eliquis, Reyataz, Sustiva Franchise, Baraclude, Sprycel, Yervoy, Orencia among others.The Company promotes its products directly to healthcare providers such as doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, technologists, hospitals, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and government agencies. The Company also markets directly to consumers in the U.S. through direct-to-consumer print, radio and television and digital advertising and promotion. The markets in which the Company competes are generally broad-based and highly competitive. The Company competes with other research-based drug companies, many smaller research companies and generic drug manufacturers. The Company is subject to global regulation by regional, country, state and local agencies.
