Cattle futures were mixed on the session, with the front two months losing more ground and strength showing up in the late Spring and Summer contracts. Feeders were mostly higher on the day, but the January contract lost $5.27 for the week and finished at $231.075. The CME feeder cattle index for 11/27 was $240.00, down 71 cents from the previous day. Wholesale beef prices were higher again today, with Choice boxes up 27 cents and Select up $1.85. They were up $2.18 and $3.92 on the week respectively. Cash cattle traded in volume Wednesday at $172-173, with limited activity in the north at $267.00. Most of the asking prices in the north are still above $270. USDA reported net weekly beef export sales through November 20 totaled 11,300 MT. Estimated weekly slaughter including Saturday is 496 K head, down 60K head from the same week last year.
