Cotton futures were up 139 to 166 points on Tuesday, with benchmark Dec16 cotton leading the charge. Prices were supported by week over week declines in the USDA national cotton condition ratings. Key conditions in Georgia were down 3 points from last Sunday, and the statewide condition in Texas was 8 points lower. The condition scores in those two states are down 12 and 26 points respectively since the initial 2016 ratings. Boll setting as of Sunday night was 11 points ahead of average in Georgia, and 6 points ahead of schedule in Texas. The USD was around 150 points lower on Tuesday. The Cotlook A Index was 25 points lower to 83.80. ICE reported that there were 117,580 certified bales in storage warehouses on July 25, with 590 decertified bales. The USDA AWP for the week is 65.28. The LDP through Thursday remains at zero.
