Corn futures are off about 6 or 7 cents at midday, after Monday was relatively quiet. The latest USDA Crop Progress report has the Brugler500 Index for the national crop showing a corn condition score of 374, down a point from last week. Illinois (347), Indiana (325), Iowa (402) and Nebraska (390) each lost a point week over week. The condition rating in North Dakota lost 4 pts to 375, but its doughing progress is 9 pts ahead of the five year pace. The Minnesota corn crop further improved, gaining a point to its current Index score of 420 (+46 pts on the year). Minnesota denting is way ahead at 69% vs. their 49% average. The USDA reports that 92% of the national corn crop had reached dough stage as of Sunday night, up two points from the five year average. Denting, 60% complete, has caught up with the average pace. USDA says 9% of the US crop is mature vs. the 15% average for this date. Chinese futures at Dalian were sharply lower on Monday as the government continues to suggest a lower support price for 2016. Tuesday, the January futures at Dalian are down roughly 15 cents.
