Front month cotton futures are a tale of two crop years, with crop up 76 to 87 points this morning while new crop December is 2 points lower. Cotton futures were off their high at the close on Monday, but were still 10 to 40 points in the black for the day. New crop cotton also bounced on Monday, ending the session 40 to 76 points firmer despite weakness in some of the row crops competing for the same 2022 acreage.
The Seam reported 9,965 bales were sold on 1/7 for an average $1.0779/lb. USDA’s 1/10 DSQ report had 3,277 bales sold. The Cotlook A index was 127.2 cents on Jan 7, down by 130 points. The AWP for cotton is 103.85 c/lb.
