The biotechnology sector has long rewarded companies that can translate early clinical promise into late-stage validation, and nowhere is that dynamic more pronounced than in oncology. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remains one of the most challenging cancers to treat, with limited durable options for patients who relapse after standard therapy.
That unmet need has made AML-focused immunotherapy a magnet for both strategic pharmaceutical partnerships and investor capital willing to underwrite clinical-stage risk in exchange for outsized upside potential. SELLAS Life Sciences Group, Inc. (SLS) sits squarely within this high-stakes corner of the market.
The company’s pipeline centers on galinpepimut-S (GPS), a peptide immunotherapy targeting the Wilms tumor 1 antigen, alongside SLS009, a selective CDK9 inhibitor. Both are being evaluated in AML populations with few effective alternatives, giving Sellas two key clinical programs to advance its broader oncology strategy.
As trial timelines have progressed and biomarker data have reinforced the underlying thesis, SLS stock has gained momentum, attracting analyst upgrades and speculative trading interest. With several catalysts still ahead and supportive Wall Street sentiment, the stock remains worth watching closely.
About Sellas's Stock
Headquartered in New York, SELLAS Life Sciences Group is a late-stage clinical biopharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative cancer treatments. With a market cap of nearly $2.7 billion, its leading candidates include GPS, a peptide immunotherapy targeting WT1, and SLS009, a selective CDK9 inhibitor.
Sellas’ shares have posted an exceptional performance, climbing 582% over the last 52 weeks and gaining 247% year-to-date (YTD). Momentum has remained strong more recently, with the stock rising 31% over the past month.
That rally carried SLS stock to a fresh 52-week high of $15.88 on Tuesday, June 30, as speculative retail buying intensified ahead of pivotal Phase 3 REGAL trial data for its AML immunotherapy candidate. Much of the move reflected momentum and social-media-fueled trading interest, contributing to sharp intraday volatility.
A Closer Look at Sellas’ Q2 Earnings
On Aug. 11, Sellas reported its Q2 FY2026 earnings results, sending shares 6.5% higher in the following trading session. The stock continued to gain over the next couple of trading sessions, extending the positive market reaction despite the quarter remaining focused primarily on development.
Sellas reported no commercial revenue but continued advancing its lead oncology programs. GPS moved closer to the final Phase 3 REGAL analysis, while SLS009 progressed in frontline AML.
Spending rose as Sellas prepared for potential GPS regulatory activities and advanced clinical trials. R&D expenses increased 62% year-over-year (YoY) to $6.3 million, while G&A expenses climbed 45.1% YoY to $4.3 million, pushing total operating expenses 54.6% YoY higher to $10.6 million.
Manufacturing, clinical, regulatory, and professional costs drove the increase. That heavier investment widened the quarterly net loss to $9.6 million, up 45.5% from the year-ago value. Still, reported loss per share improved to $0.05 from $0.07, a 28.6% YoY improvement, partly supported by a substantially larger share count.
On the balance sheet, Sellas finished the quarter with $138.3 million in cash and cash equivalents. On the operational front, the Phase 3 REGAL trial is nearing the 80th event required for final analysis, while SLS009 enrollment reached 28 patients.
Management expects topline data from the 80-patient Phase 2 SLS009 trial in newly diagnosed AML in Q4 FY2026. Further development in pancreatic cancer is planned following encouraging preclinical findings, while the 80th REGAL event remains the key near-term catalyst.
Meanwhile, analysts expect the Q3 FY2026 bottom line to grow 1,427,242.9% from a loss per share of $0.07 in the prior year’s period. For full-year FY2026, estimates call for a growth of 399,700% from a loss per share of $0.25 in the prior year, while the FY2027 bottom line is expected to remain unchanged.

Sellas continues to attract a bullish, albeit limited, view from Wall Street, with the stock carrying an overall “Strong Buy” rating. According to Barchart's data, the one analyst covering the company has rated it a “Strong Buy,” underscoring the confidence surrounding its outlook.
