Its FICO® Score is the standard measure of consumer credit risk in the U.S., used by 90% of top U.S. lenders, while its solutions help organizations in more than 80 countries improve profitability, manage risk, prevent fraud, and expand financial access.
Shares of the Bozeman, Montana-based company have underperformed the broader market over the past 52 weeks. FICO stock has decreased 22.9% over this time frame, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has gained 18.7%. In addition, the stock has fallen 31.3% on a YTD basis, compared to SPX's 12.7% return.
Looking closer, shares of the credit scoring giant have lagged behind the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF's (XLK) 39.8% return over the past 52 weeks.
FICO shares tumbled 17% following its Q3 2026 results on Jul. 29 as revenue of $674.2 million missed consensus, despite rising from $536.4 million a year earlier. Fiscal 2026 EPS guidance of $42.43 and revenue guidance of $2.53 billion, both trailed the estimates. Management cited elevated interest rates and affordability challenges weighing on mortgage originations, and higher Q4 operating expenses - including front-loaded marketing for the Accenture partnership and restructuring charges, added further pressure.
For the fiscal year ending in September 2026, analysts expect Fair Isaac's EPS to grow 49.1% year-over-year to $37.37. The company's earnings surprise history is mixed. It beat the consensus estimates in three of the last four quarters while missing on another occasion.
Among the 20 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is a “Moderate Buy.” That’s based on 10 “Strong Buy” ratings, three “Moderate Buys,” six “Holds,” and one “Strong Sell.”
This configuration is slightly less bullish than three months ago, with 11 “Strong Buy” ratings on the stock.
On Aug. 4, Jefferies analyst Surinder Thind reiterated a “Buy“ rating on Fair Isaac and set a $1,675 price target.
The mean price target of $1,463.63 represents a nearly 27% premium to FICO’s current price levels. The Street-high price target of $1,750 suggests a 51.8% potential upside.
