Mentor, Ohio-based Avery Dennison Corporation (AVY) operates as a materials science and digital identification solutions company in North America and internationally. The company has a market cap of $13.6 billion and offers pressure-sensitive label materials, performance tape products, including mechanical fasteners, and pressure-sensitive adhesive-based materials and converted products under the Fasson, JAC, and Avery Dennison brands.
AVY stock has lagged behind the broader market over the past year, rising 5.3% compared to the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX) 18.7% surge. Moreover, in 2026, the stock has risen marginally, underperforming the SPX’s 12.1% rise.
Focusing on its industry benchmark, the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) has grown marginally over the past year, lagging behind the stock. In 2026, XLY has fallen 1.9% and has also underperformed the stock.
On July 30, AVY stock rose 4.6% following the release of its Q2 2026 earnings. The company’s revenue for the quarter amounted to $2.5 billion, surpassing the Street’s estimates. Moreover, its adjusted EPS came in at $2.89, also topping Wall Street’s forecasts. Avery Dennison expects full-year earnings in the range of $10 to $10.30 per share.
For the current year, which ends in December, analysts expect AVY’s EPS to grow 6.5% to $10.15 on a diluted basis. The company has surpassed the consensus estimate in all of its last four quarters.
However, among the 14 analysts covering AVY stock, the consensus is a “Moderate Buy.” That’s based on nine “Strong Buy” ratings, one “Moderate Buy,” and four “Holds.”
The configuration has remained unchanged over the past months.
On Aug. 1, J.P. Morgan analyst Jeffrey Zekauskas maintained a “Buy” rating for AVY stock and set a price target of $190.
AVY’s mean price target of $199 indicates a premium of 9.1% from the current market price. Its Street-high target of $225 implies a robust 23.4% upside from current levels.
