The wheat complex posted mixed action across the three exchanges on Thursday. Chicago SRW contracts were fractionally to 2 ½ cents higher on the day. KC HRW futures closed the day with fractionally mixed trade in the nearbys and weaker in the deferreds. MPLS spring wheat was up 6 3/4 to 9 cents on the day.
The weekly USDA Export Sales report showed a total of 393,655 MT of 2026/27 wheat sales in the week ending on August 13. That was the third highest for the marketing year but still 24.26% below the same week last year. The top buyer was Mexico at 105,000 MT, with 97,200 MT sold to Taiwan.
Monthly International Grains Council data showed production down 4 MMT to 817 MMT, with use slipping down 2 MMT to 826 MMT. Stocks for 2026/27 were trimmed by 4 MMT to 275 MMT.
