Ballybrit, Ireland-based TE Connectivity plc (TEL) is a global technology company that designs and manufactures connectivity and sensor solutions for electric vehicles, medical devices, robotics, renewable energy, smart grids, and communications infrastructure. The company has a market capitalization of approximately $62.9 billion.
Shares of this technology giant have considerably underperformed the broader market over the past year. TEL has gained marginally over this period, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has rallied 19.3%. Likewise, TEL is down 9.9% so far this year, well behind the S&P 500’s 12.4% year-to-date gain.
Narrowing the comparison, TEL has also significantly underperformed the iShares U.S. Manufacturing ETF (MADE), which has climbed 31.6% over the past year and 19.1% year-to-date.
On July 22, TE Connectivity reported its fiscal Q3 2026 earnings, and its shares fell 4.2% despite the earnings beat, as investors appeared to focus on factors beyond the stronger-than-expected results. Net sales grew 13.8% to a record $5.16 billion, driven by growth in both the Industrial and Transportation segments. Adjusted diluted EPS rose 22% to a record $2.94.
For the fiscal fourth quarter, TE Connectivity guided net sales to approximately $5.25 billion, up 11% year-over-year on both a reported and organic basis, and adjusted EPS to approximately $3.05, up 18%. The company also announced a definitive agreement to acquire Astrodyne TDI, a provider of advanced power management and filtering solutions, for approximately $1.4 billion.
For the current fiscal year ending in September 2026, analysts project TEL’s diluted EPS to increase 31.1% to $11.48. The company’s earnings history is impressive, as TEL has surpassed consensus EPS estimates in each of the past four quarters.
Among the 16 analysts covering TEL stock, the consensus rating is a “Moderate Buy,” based on 11 “Strong Buy” ratings and five “Hold” ratings.
TEL’s consensus rating is more bearish than it was a month ago, when the stock had an overall “Strong Buy” rating.
On July 29, Truist Financial analyst William Stein maintained a “Hold” rating on TE Connectivity and kept the price target at $215.
The mean price target of $246.18 implies 20.1% upside from TEL’s current share price, while the Street-high target of $300 suggests potential upside of 46.4%.
