Hartford, Connecticut-based The Hartford Insurance Group, Inc. (HIG) is a leading U.S. insurance and financial services company. With a market cap of $37 billion, the company provides property and casualty insurance, employee benefits, and investment products to businesses and individuals.
HIG has struggled to keep pace with the broader market over the past year and so far in 2026. HIG stock has grown 7.1% over the past 52 weeks and marginally on a YTD basis. In comparison, the S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has returned 19.3% over the past year and risen 12.4% in 2026.

Its core earnings edged up 1.4% year over year to $945 million and 5.6% year over year to $3.42 per share, benefiting from 5% growth in both P&C earned premiums and Employee Benefits fully insured ongoing premiums. Revenue surged 8.1% from the year-ago quarter to $7.26 billion.
For the current year ending in December, analysts expect HIG’s EPS to decrease 4.6% year over year to $12.80. Moreover, the company has surpassed analysts’ consensus estimates in three of the past four quarters, missing the mark once.
Among the 26 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is a “Moderate Buy.” That’s based on 10 “Strong Buy” ratings, one “Moderate Buy,” 14 “Holds,” and one “Strong Sell” rating.
The configuration is bearish than two months ago when the stock had 11 “Strong Buy” suggestions.
KBW analyst Meyer Shields maintained a “Hold” rating on Hartford Insurance and set a $144 price target, signaling a neutral outlook on the stock.
HIG’s mean price target of $149.13 indicates a premium of 7.3% from the current market price. Its Street-high target of $164 suggests a robust 18% upside potential from current price levels.
