Globe Life’s shares dropped over 7% on Jul. 22 as investors focused on weak sales trends despite the Q2 2026 earnings beat, with total life net sales down 3%, direct-to-consumer life sales down 15%, and American Income life sales down 2%. Sentiment was further pressured by a 7% decline in American Income’s average producing agent count and weak underwriting trends, with health underwriting income rising only 1% while margins fell at United American (12%), American Income (6%), and Liberty National (5%).
Although Q2 2026 EPS of $3.65 beat estimates and revenue rose 7.4% to $1.59 billion, the softer sales and underwriting performance overshadowed the earnings strength.
For the fiscal year ending in December 2026, analysts expect Globe Life’s EPS to grow 8.2% year-over-year to $15.71. The company's earnings surprise history is mixed. It topped the consensus estimates in one of the last four quarters while missing on three other occasions.

The mean price target of $192.64 represents a 6.4% premium to GL's current levels. The Street-high price target of $225 implies a potential upside of 24.3%.
