The wheat complex fell back lower on Thursday, slipping into the close. Chicago SRW contracts were steady to 2 ¼ cents in the red. KC HRW futures saw fractional to 3 cent losses across most contracts at the close. MPLS spring wheat saw weaker front month action, down 3 ¼ to 4 ¼ cents in the nearbys.
Early on Thursday morning Ukraine proposed a truce with Russia to stop attacking civilian targets on the Black Sea. Very little in terms of a response from Russia has been reported.
Weekly Export Sales data from this morning showed net sales of 255,931 MT, which was in the middle of the trade ideas for between 200,000 and 500,000 MT in 2026/27 sales in the week of 8/6. That was the second lowest total for the marketing year and down 64.59% from the same week last year. Mexico was the top buyer of 101,100 MT, with 87,700 MT sold to South Korea.
