With a market cap of $32.2 billion, Tapestry, Inc. (TPR) is a global luxury fashion company that designs, markets, and sells premium accessories and lifestyle products. Headquartered in New York City, the company operates a portfolio of iconic brands led by Coach and Kate Spade New York, following the sale of Stuart Weitzman in 2025 as part of its strategy to sharpen its focus on its core businesses.
Tapestry has been one of the standout performers in the luxury retail space over the past year. Shares of the fashion house have surged 44.5% over the past 52 weeks, more than doubling the 21.5% gain in the S&P 500 Index ($SPX). The momentum has carried into 2026, with the stock up 26.8% year to date, comfortably ahead of the index's 12.6% return.
The outperformance looks even more impressive against its sector benchmark, the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY), which has gained just 5.7% over the past year and slipped 1.1% in 2026.
Tapestry has outperformed the broader market over the past year as investors have grown increasingly optimistic about its strong execution at Coach, improving earnings, and technology-led growth strategy. The company has reinforced its AI ambitions through its annual AI Summit, where it showcased initiatives such as AI-powered Gen Z customer personas, virtual sales-associate training with real-time feedback, and AI-assisted product design. These innovations are designed to deepen customer engagement, improve store productivity, and accelerate product development, complementing resilient demand for its luxury brands and supporting confidence in its long-term growth prospects.
For the fiscal year ending in June 2026, analysts expect TPR’s EPS to grow 36.9% year-over-year to $6.98. The company's earnings surprise history is promising. It beat the consensus estimates in the last four quarters.
Among the 22 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is a “Strong Buy.” That’s based on 15 “Strong Buy” ratings, one “Moderate Buy,” and six “Holds.”
The configuration is bearish than a month ago when the stock had 16 “Strong Buy” suggestions.
On Aug. 7, Telsey Advisory Group reaffirmed its "Outperform" rating on Tapestry and raised its price target to $175 from $160, citing confidence in the company's growth outlook.
The mean price target of $168.28 represents a premium of 3.8% to TPR's current levels. The Street-high price target of $230 implies a potential upside of 42% from the current price levels.
