Redwire Corporation (RDW), a company focused on aerospace and defense technologies, has announced a new international partnership with Japanese tech firm SpaceData Inc., marking a significant expansion into Asia's growing space innovation ecosystem. The collaboration is anchored by a memorandum of understanding that sets the stage for joint work in artificial intelligence, digital engineering, and next-generation space systems.
The agreement outlines several key initiatives. Redwire and SpaceData plan to integrate SpaceData's virtual engineering tools into Redwire's digital ecosystem, support mission work related to the International Space Station, and pursue joint projects tied to NASA's Commercial Low Earth Orbit efforts. They also aim to explore future missions beyond Earth, including Cislunar and lunar deployments.
Central to this collaboration is the potential application of SpaceData's advanced AI for space robotics and digital twin platforms. These technologies allow precise simulations of hardware performance in space conditions. SpaceData's ISS Simulator, for example, has successfully mirrored real hardware commands, providing a testbed for virtual mission validation.
Redwire will incorporate these innovations into its Digital Ecosystem for Mission and System Integration, a platform that blends physical and virtual components using its proprietary ACORN simulation framework.
