California Teen Center announces a family-centered teen IOP in Yuba City, providing structured, evidence-based mental health treatment for adolescents ages 12-17. The program offers a higher level of care than weekly therapy while helping teens stay connected to their daily routines.

-- California Teen Center has announced its teen intensive outpatient program (IOP) for depression & anxiety in Yuba City, CA and surrounding counties, providing family-centered adolescent mental health treatment for teens ages 12-17 who need more support than weekly therapy while remaining connected to home, school, and family life. The evidence-based program is designed for teens experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, school avoidance, self-harm, and other behavioral health challenges, offering a structured level of care that bridges the gap between traditional outpatient therapy and inpatient treatment.

According to the CDC's 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey, approximately 40% of U.S. high school students reported persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness during the previous year, emphasizing the growing need for accessible adolescent mental health services. In response, California Teen Center announced its teen IOP to help families access structured, evidence-based care when weekly therapy alone may no longer meet a teen's needs.
"Many parents know their teen needs additional support but are unsure what level of care is appropriate," a spokesperson for California Teen Center said. "Our teen IOP is designed to provide intensive therapeutic support while helping adolescents remain engaged with their families, education, and daily routines whenever clinically appropriate."
The teen IOP includes individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, psychiatric oversight, academic coordination, and evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Sessions are typically scheduled after school or in half-day formats, allowing teens to continue participating in school while receiving structured treatment several days each week.
California Teen Center is licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and accredited by The Joint Commission. In addition to its Teen IOP in Yuba City, the center offers a teen partial hospitalization program (PHP/Day Program), outpatient therapy, step-down support, and virtual IOP for eligible families throughout California.
The center also works with major insurance providers, including Anthem, Blue Shield of California, Carelon, and Aetna, and offers insurance benefits verification to help families better understand their coverage options.
