Lean Hogs are trading 25 cents to 77 cents lower at Tuesday’s midday. USDA’s National Average Base Hog price for Tuesday morning was 36 cents lower to $74.62. The CME Lean Hog Index for 3/10 was up 24 cents from the previous day to $79.86.
The nearby pork cutout futures are down 37 cents. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout value was back down 8 cents in the Tuesday morning report at $88.72. The butt, loin, and ham primals were reported lower, with the rest pointing higher. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter at 484,000 head for Monday. That is up 23,000 head vs. last week and 18,000 head above the same Monday last year.
