Lean hog futures are up $1.42 to $1.90 at midday so far, save for the Feb contract that is 7 cents weaker. Feb hogs expire on Tuesday, to be settled against the index on Thursday. USDA’s National Average Base Hog price for Monday morning was down by $2.07 to $74.05. The 2/09 CME Lean Hog Index was up by 21 cents to $74.01.
Pork cutout futures were are also up by triple digits past the Feb contract. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout value was $2.02 higher this morning to $83.07. USDA estimated the week’s FI hog slaughter at 1.924 million head for the week through Thursday, trailing last week by 14k head.

April 23 Hogs are at $84.850, up $1.525
Feb 23 Pork Cutout is at $80.750, down $0.650,
