Sugar Prices Weighed Down by the Outlook for a Global Sugar Surplus

July NY world sugar #11 (SBN25) Thursday closed down -0.39 (-2.16%), and August London ICE white sugar #5 (SWQ25) closed down -10.90 (-2.16%).

Sugar prices retreated on Thursday due to expectations for a global sugar surplus.  Consultant Datagro said Wednesday that it projects a 2025/26 global sugar surplus of +1.53 MMT, recovering sharply from a 2024/25 global sugar deficit of -4.67 MMT.  Meanwhile, StoneX projects a 2025/26 global sugar surplus of +3.74 MMT.
