Russell 2000 E-Mini Futures Market News and Commentary
The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) on Monday closed down -1.86%, the Dow Jones Industrials Index ($DOWI) closed down -2.29%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) closed down -1.61%.
U.S. stock indexes on Monday fell sharply, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 posting 2-1/2 week lows and the Dow Jones Industrials falling to a 3-1/2 week low. Stocks sold off Monday on reduced prospects for additional U.S pandemic stimulus, along with concern that rising Covid infections will weaken the global economy.
A lack of a new pandemic relief package undercut stocks on Monday. White House economic director Kudlow said Monday that President Trump could not accept parts of the Democrats' stimulus bill. Funding for state and local governments remains the key issue singled out by both sides as a remaining stumbling block to a stimulus deal.
