Metals this morning are higher. Dec gold +4.1 (+0.32%), Dec silver +0.064 (+0.36%), Dec copper +0.015 (+0.70%) at a 2-week high. Wednesday's closes: Dec gold -7.0 (-0.55%), Dec silver -0.154 (-0.87%), Dec copper +0.0070 (+0.33%). Metals on Wednesday settled mixed. Metals were undercut by concern the Fed will raise interest rates this year after the U.S. Sep Markit services PMI expanded at the fastest pace in 11 months. Precious metals prices were undercut by the slide in crude oil to a 3-week low, which reduces demand for gold as an inflation hedge. Copper closed higher on signs of tighter supplies after LME copper inventories fell -2,575 MT to a 1-1/2 month low of 336,225 MT.
