Metals prices this morning are trading mixed. GCZ5 +1.8 (+0.17%), SIU5 -0.025 (-0.17%), HGU5 +0.016 (+0.66%). Monday's closes: GCZ5 -5.7 (-0.52%), SIU5 -0.285 (-1.93%), HGU5 -0.0175 (-0.74%). Metals prices on Monday settled lower with Sep copper at a new 6-year low on (1) concern that a slowdown in Chinese manufacturing activity will curb Chinese copper demand after the China Jul Caixin manufacturing PMI was unexpectedly revised downward to its steepest pace of contraction in 2 years (-0.4 to 47.8), and (2) reduced demand for gold as an inflation hedge after the 10-year T-note breakeven inflation rate fell to its lowest in 4-1/2 months.
