Crude Oil WTI Futures Market News and Commentary

Crude Prices Decline on Global Oil Glut Fears

January WTI crude oil (CLF26) on Tuesday closed down -0.63 (-1.07%), and January RBOB gasoline (RBF26) closed down -0.0084 (-0.47%).

Crude oil and gasoline prices added to Monday's losses on Tuesday, with crude posting a 1.5-week low and gasoline posting a 2-week low.  Tuesday's stronger dollar is bearish for energy prices.  Crude prices are also falling on concerns about a global oil glut.  Losses in crude are limited on expectations that restrictions on Russian energy exports will remain, with no end in sight to the  Russian-Ukrainian war.  

Crude prices came under pressure Tuesday after global commodities trader Trafigura said the global oil market is headed for a "super glut" next year as a wave of new supplies runs up against sluggish energy demand.
