Description The SPDR Wells Fargo Preferred Stock ETF seeks to provide investment results that, before fees and expenses, correspond generally to the Wells Fargo Hybrid and Preferred Securities Aggregate Index. The Index is a modified market capitalization weighted index designed to measure the performance of non-convertible preferred stock and securities that are functionally equivalent to preferred stock, including, but not limited to, depositary preferred securities, perpetual subordinated debt and certain securities issued by banks and other financial institutions that are eligible for capital treatment with respect to such instruments akin to that received for issuance of straight preferred stock ("Preferred Securities"). Preferred Securities generally pay fixed rate distributions and typically have "preference" over common stock in the payment of distributions and the liquidation of a company's assets%u2014preference means that a company must pay distributions on its Preferred Securities before paying dividends on its common stock, and the claims of Preferred Securities holders are ahead of common stockholders' claims on assets in a corporate liquidation. Under normal market conditions, the Fund generally invests substantially all, but at least 80%, of its total assets in the securities comprising the Index.
