It faces competition in virtually all aspects of its business, including the regional communications business, long distance and international communications business, mobile communications business and data communications business segments. The MIC is the main regulatory body in Japan responsible for the telecommunications service industry. NTT East, NTT West, NTT Communications and NTT DOCOMO are regulated by the MIC under the Telecommunications Business Law in respect of their respective business activities.
