Cattle futures are down 5 to 15 cents this morning. The rally on Tuesday was primarily short covering, with OI down 2,744 contracts including a 5,195 contract drop in June futures. Wholesale prices set another new record high for Choice at $210.66 yesterday. Select boxed beef was quoted 44 cents lower. Memorial Day pipeline filling is completed, so mostly we’re seeing export or fill in business until weekend clearance info is available. Estimated week to date slaughter is 249,000 head, which is 2000 more than last Monday, but 1000 light vs. year ago
