Technical Chart Indicators and Studies![]() Find descriptions, formulas, parameters, and other help for the indicators and studies used by the Barchart.com Technical Charts application below. Interactive Charts, however, share many of the same studies with Technical Charts. Some of the parameters may be slightly different between the two versions of charts. Unless otherwise specified, the parameters shown in this documentation are those used by the Technical Chart program. * Available in Interactive Charts only Note:When adding multiple moving averages on a chart, the lines will be colored in this order: red, green, blue, purple, orange.
When adding an indicator to a Technical Chart, you can change the parameters of the study by clicking on the indicator name. Dashed LineIndicator Type: Overlay The Dashed Line allows you to draw a horizontal dashed line on the chart at the price you specify. When adding the Dashed Line, you must add the price to the indicator's parameter settings. To do this, select the indicator, then click on the indicator name to open the parameters box. Parameters Price: Enter the price at which the horizontal dashed line will be drawn. Note: For commodities that display fractional prices, such as corn, the price must be set as a decimal equivalent. For example, a price of 338-4 would be entered as 338.50. Label: Enter the label you want to appear in the chart header. Sample Chart: ![]() |
