Cattle futures posted a second day of gains. Feeder futures were also up sharply as they have a larger population of speculative shorts and some were being chased out. Wholesale prices set another new record high for Choice at $210.66 this afternoon but were mixed overall. Select boxed beef was quoted 44 cents lower. Memorial Day pipeline filling is completed, so mostly we’re seeing export or fill in business until weekend clearance info is available. Estimated week to date slaughter is 249,000 head, which is 2000 more than last Monday, but 1000 light vs. year ago. 

Jun 13 Cattle closed at $121.100, up $0.975,

Aug 13 Cattle closed at $120.375, up $1.225,

Oct 13 Cattle closed at $123.475, up $1.000,

May 13 Feeder Cattle closed at $131.900, down $0.625

Aug 13 Feeder Cattle closed at $146.475, up $2.000

Sep 13 Feeder Cattle closed at $148.900, up $2.075
