Live cattle futures are down more than a dollar at midday. Feeders are also showing triple digit losses with some contracts down more than two bucks on the session. Wholesale beef prices were lower this morning with choice down 63 cents and select averaging 12 cents lower at $199.73 and $194.03 respectively. Thursday to Thursday, the choice price was down 50 cents and select was 2 cents higher. Cash cattle trade was light on Thursday with some cash sales reported at $113, and dressed sales averaging $179.91. The last fully reported market was on Wednesday with live sales from $114 to $115, and dressed sales sold from $181 to $182. USDA estimates WTD cattle slaughter through Thursday is 1,000 behind last week but 14,000 larger than the same point in 2015.
