Live cattle futures at midday are up 15 to 40 cents, after trading 17 to 65 cents higher this morning. Feeders are currently trading 47.5 cents lower to 85 cents higher, with the strength in the first three months. The CME Feeder Cattle Index for 4/29 was down 87 cents to $143.43. Cash cattle trade recorded a few dressed sales from $188 to $192 on Monday. Last week, average prices were down $3.00 live week to week, and down $6.00 dressed. Choice boxed beef prices are down $1.54 this morning, but select boxes are up $1.04. USDA FI slaughter on Monday was estimated at 110,000 head, steady with a week ago, but 2,000 head smaller than the same Monday a year ago. Pasture conditions were rated 58% good to excellent by the USDA, up from 53% at this time last year.
